More than just Oatmeal

The men are busy shoveling snow off of the driveway.  It is rare for my husband to be around when we eat breakfast and so I took time to make the table look nice before we ate.  Usually I'd prepare each individuals breakfast meal by sprinkling a bit of this or that on it according to individual tastes.  This time, I had it all laid out on the table.

Nice warm gluten-free oatmeal for breakfast with a little extra to go with it.  The oatmeal had a day to soak and 'ferment' per say before we cooked it this morning.  Whey or lemon juice added to the grain and water helps in the 'break down' of the grain to help with better absorption.  Because oats can be contaminated with gluten either in the growing or packaging, I do not eat oats very often. 

Here's what we added to the steaming hot oatmeal...

Hemp Seed, Ground Flax Seed, Powdered Colostrum, and Gogi Berries

Raw Pecans
Shredded Raw Coconut
Raw Almonds
Raw Dates and
Raw Figs (the last of the bunch)

Raw Goats Milk

We used maple syrup, molasses (on mine only) and coconut sugar to sweeten the oatmeal.

Yummy, Coconut Juice! (One can served Shane and the kids)

The leftover nuts, figs, dates and berries went into a bag to munch on as snacks.

$500,000 USD - He did NOT accept!

Let's imagine you were a Senator for a particular state in the United States of America...

If you were offered half a million dollars to support a bill that was to 'protect the American People', wouldn't that be an easy choice to make? Vote YES and get $500,000. Easy!

What if you were offered $300,000 to vote YES towards a bill that would 'protect the American People'? What an EASY choice to make, vote yes!

What if you were offered $100,000 to vote YES towards a bill that would 'protect the American People'?

What would be the cause if you voted NO.

If you voted NO and gave up $100,000, $300,000, or $500,000 it must be for a REASON.

Let me introduce you to 22 Senators WITH Integrity! Despite being offered ridiculously high amounts of money, they listened to the MILLIONS of Americans who were shouting out as loud as they could through phone, email, or mail correspondence. "Do NOT vote for S510 they shouted".

I am SO VERY proud of our two Senators from Utah. Senator Bennett and Senator Hatch. They both resisted over $100,000 each in order to vote NAY (NO).

For those of the you in the United States that want to know who to vote for in the future if they run for the Senate or they run in another office, here is a list of the Senators who exercised extreme self control by voting for the people - with complete disregard for the millions of dollars they refused from people (with big corporate ties) that wanted them to vote yes.

Vermont has recently made a declaration to protect the citizens of Vermont and their rights to grow, save seeds, share food etc. I definitely plan on making my voice heard by calling to make an appointment to PERSONALLY VISIT my Senators.

One of the most rewarding experiences I've had was when I flew to Washington to meet with Senators and Congressman to discuss particular bills that affected our business. I am currently having dreams about doing the same thing with regards to the S510 battle.

There is a scripture that talks about the last days and "wars and rumors of wars in far off countries". The scriptures then go on to talk about how people would not know of the evil going on in their own country. Wake up America! There is a battle going on. A battle to take away your most basic freedoms of growing your own food, sharing it with others - perhaps for a profit.

Watch Food, Inc. and see what Monsanto did to a farmer who 'cleaned seeds' for a living. He was completely shut down for washing his neighbors seeds (which he had done for many years) so that they were not contaminated with the sprays and GMO's of Monsanto. The dear man was shut down because he didn't follow a patent law that protected Monsanto's seeds even if they blew into someones field and it even effected the farmers whose crops became contaminated by the seeds.

I hope when you watch Food Inc. that your blood will feel like it is boiling - like mine did.

I hope you stand up and make your voice be heard and join this battle. A battle where millions of people stand up and make their voice heard is quickly put to an end. If there are only a few of us who are willing to open our eyes and see what is happening and are willing to make our voices heard, it will be a long fight.

We will win this battle and Americans we WILL become Of the People, and By the People AGAIN!

Do what is RIGHT. Sometimes doing what is RIGHT requires doing what others may view as the wrong thing! When I voiced my opinion against S510 I had an individual tell me how they didn't see it "as a big deal". I loved that one Senator (who is a Medical Doctor) was able to articulate why he too was AGAINST S510. The bill does NOTHING to protect the American People but has EVERYTHING to do with giving more power to those who are already abusing the current authority that they do have.

I fear many people have forgotten what REAL food looks and tastes like. I hope to make my next blogs about the original version of a particular food and then show you what it has become.

Where's the FOOD?

After Monsanto changes food into some adulterated form that hardly resembles what God had originally intended it to be, the FDA will begin to see how that so called 'food' will yes cause cancer. Modified, genetically engineered food DOES cause CANCER.  Actually, those at the FDA that know this and teach this have been removed from the FDA and replaced with former Monsanto Employees.  Let me clarify...

Some day when Monsanto's tentacles are removed from the Supreme Court, from the FDA and from the Dept of Agriculture, Americans will know Genetically Modified Food DOES cause Cancer among a myriad of other things...

Instead of outlawing food, (like Raw Milk) perhaps enough people will make their voices heard and reteach the FDA what food is suppose to look like and taste like.

Food does NOT cause cancer. I'd like the FDA to start labeling anything without life in it, that doesn't decay, to say "NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION".

This new labeling would need to be placed on nearly every single item in the store. Then if it is genetically modified, there should be a warning label "Food that is Genetically Modified was intended to kill whatever takes a bite of it. Please know that Monsanto does not take liability for your intestinal lining if suddenly those same constituents in the genetically modified food that are resistant to fungicides and pesticides destroy the friendly bacteria and villi in your bowels." Then in very tiny writing there may be written "Studies show there may be a possible link to cancer".

Here's to health and the downfall of Monsanto!

FYI, Monsanto's "Aspartame" that contains one of the most dangerous chemicals has now been labeled by the FDA as "organic".  Please read the below quote form the Consumer Safety Network that can be found by clicking on this link

May the FORCE be with you!  Seriously.  We all need "it"  (the Force) to navigate our way through the gluten-filled, Monsanto, Genetically Modified, cancer filled, prepackaged, preserved cookie cutter America we are living in right now. 

I'll end with a quote from one of my dear friends who has a successful business in 30 different countries.  He is the most amazing man.  He is this way because he has NO Fear.  He lives his life in FAITH.  He tells me over and over, "Where FAITH is, Fear dies".  Love also chases away fear.

Evil wins when good people do nothing.  Evil loses when good people do something - a lot of people doing  a little can make an ENORMOUS difference.  Simply consume the produce, dairy and meat products from your own country, from your own neighborhood and if it is not available perhaps you could start growing your own garden or raising well cared for animals yourself.

Genetically Engineered or Modified Food GMO's

Our bodies are miraculous. Millions of bodies all around the world have developed allergies or intollerances to what the FDA deems as "safe food". The FDA has done a really good job of taking the life out of food, and GMO scientists have turned the food into something that has the ability to kill little bugs that try to take a bite out of it, they can manipulate the DNA of the food with other DNA to have the traits of the animal or insect the DNA was crossed with.

109 Year Old - Bernando Lapallo - Primarily Raw Food Diet

The Diet Solution and Dr. Mercola (see both talk about various diets for various body types. There are those that do really well with more protein and animal meat in their diets, some who do better with more carbohydrates and others who respond favorably to a carbohydrate/protein mix. See Dr. Mercola's website for further clarification. I love how raw foods have opened up a whole new world of foods to me. Instead of disgusting imitations of breads, cakes and cookies that are anything BUT healthy, (when making highly processed gluten-free imitations of "the real thing"), I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE making and EATING the food created from my collection of raw food recipes. Most individuals know how to use organic and whole food ingredients in place of the refined foods in their favorite recipes for a "healthier option". For this reason, most of the recipes I post on this site are considered "raw food recipes" so individuals can perhaps try something new.

It's incredible how amazing Mr. Bernando Lapallo's skin looks. He truly looks 30-40 years younger than he actually is.

Symptoms vary GREATLY!

For those of you reading this blog translated, the cartoon above says "I thought it might help you if I listed my symptoms." (Translator tool cannot read words on images or pictures).

This morning I was thinking about my father. He use to carry little papers in his wallet that had joke tag lines written on them. I have fond memories of him pulling out his wallet, taking a moment to go through the list of joke 'tag lines' and then he would smile to himself as he finished formulating the joke in his mind while at the same time putting his wallet back into his pocket. I purchased the above cartoon in memory of Dad and in memory of the two years we spent trying to figure out what had happened to "My Steffi" (as Dad would say). What had happened to his happy, outgoing little girl? She use to be so full of life and happiness.

In memory of Dad, I'd like to make this blog more comical. Thank you cartoon stock for making up for what I lack as it relates to humor.

The jokes Dad would tell were really hilarious, but the part I liked most (about Dad's jokes) was how he'd laugh at the jokes himself. His laugh was contagious and genuine. He'd pull his lips to one side (trying to not laugh until the very end) as he would tell his joke. Sometimes I'd be laughing more at Dad laughing at his own jokes, that I would at the actual humor.

Laughter was a HUGE part of his life when he was on the positive side of the mania. The laughter was boisterous, the teasing, the energy, the love of life, the excitement. He was an amazing father. I miss him so much.

I remember one day, during my High School years (while I was at work at the pool life-guarding), my boss told me there was someone that wanted to see me. When I walked through the office, there to greet me was my dear, kind father. He had driven 3.5 hours to see me. Why? He wanted to show me how to throw the discuss.

Dad had been a college athlete. He was on the track and field teams and did really well. So, before my track meet, Dad had taken the time to drive the distance for the only purpose of teaching me correct form. I remember how we laughed when my wonderful bald-headed father with a slight bit of weight in his mid-section got permission from my boss to take me out to a nearby grassy park area so that he could show me "how to properly throw the discuss". I was still in my life-guarding outfit and I remember laughing as Dad began the warm-up, did the spin and released the discuss. It didn't go as far as he intended it to go. We laughed and then following his instructions, I tried throwing the discuss and was able to send the discuss nearly 3 x's the distance my father had thrown it. Dad was so funny, and please forgive me if certain words are offensive to you, but I can imagine him saying to me "Damn Show-Off" as he headed off to retrieve the discuss.

Oh how I miss that wonderful man. I just inhaled and exhaled as I closed my eyes and breathed in all of the wonderful memories of him and then slowly breathed out all of the sorrow. My heart will never stop aching for that part of my life that held so much joy when Dad was around. Holiday's growing up without a father at home were a little dreary. Dad would come visit us, but it wasn't the same. Now that I have a family of my own, time has healed those dreary memories and my children fill the holidays up in a wonderful way. Now, when we visit family members and exchange gifts, there is that familiar loneliness as I experience the holiday's without MY father.

When I was struggling to finish college with the many, many symptoms I had. Dad was the one to come get me from school. He packed my things up (with the help of my brother) and then he literally carried me out to the car.

I was reading on the website that, in the United States, Celiac Disease takes about 9 years from onset to diagnosis for Doctor's to figure out that a patient has Celiac Disease. In Europe Celiac Disease is more common and easily identified and treated.

Celiac Disease is the root of many, other diseases and so it's difficult to properly diagnose.

The thing I want people to learn is that Celiac Disease is just a name that doctor's have put to an individuals response to gluten. There are others who get the diagnosis as Gluten Allergy, Gluten Intollerance, Gluten Sensitivity etc.

Millions of individuals world wide tell the same story. Our bodies are shouting out that we recognize that food - especially gluten containing products, are not the food that God intended we consume.

I miss my father so much. I know that he could have cured his depression if he had only waited a couple more years.

For those of you with various symptoms or diseases...

Please don't wait for a diagnosis. I'll give you one. You have developed BREIM disease. "Bodies Responding to Evil Intent of Men" disease. Food isn't grown to make you healthy. Food is grown to make a profit. The prettier, more addictive, longest lasting on the shelf etc. that it can be, the better.

As Dr. Fuhrman would say, "Eat Food to Live".

Whatever you symptoms, whatever your diagnosis, look to your foods as an answer to the health issues of you or a loved one.

Even I, as pure as I eat, have begun taking a whole foods vitamin, a trace mineral supplement, and an omega-3 supplement. The omega-3 supplement has a small bubble in the pill containing hydrogen that keeps the oil from going rancid. I pray that you will also find a product that you find helpful. Please make sure the products are gluten-free. Even trace amounts of gluten in your supplements over time will be more damaging than good.

I absolutely LOVE this quote.  When I asked Jared if I could share it he replied...

"Please do. This is a topic that Mindy and I were discussing today in our companionship council, and we narrowed down this huge idea into this simple sentence."

I think that is so beautiful that they came together as a couple to discuss their marriage.  Ideas were exchanged, feelings expressed and the beautiful quote above was the result.  I absolutely love it!  I'm going to go share it with Shane.

Gotta Think!!!

I loved this cartoon a lot and so I purchased it from Cartoon Stock.  I hope you enjoy reading it.  So many times I struggle with "why" I didn't do something perfectly, when the truth is we all make mistakes.  The more we practice the better we get.  Even the professionals sometimes make mistakes.

Keep playing the sport out of love for the game and the desire to win!

I listened to someone say that God loves you because he knows how the end result will be.  He sees your potential.  People tend to judge people for what they are currently.  God sees us and loves us because he knows what we can become.

For those of you reading this translated, the cartoon above says "I got it, I got it, I got it!"  The second picture says "thunk!"  The third picture says "Sun in my eyes? Wind got hold of it? Struggling with "personal" issues? Gotta think?

There may be things in life that we can use as an "excuse" for how we disappointed others.  Everyone has a different situation and is different and unique.  God knows you, loves you and believes in you.  I see the cartoon as a reminder to not make excuses but to learn about the challenges that comes with playing the game - be an expert despite the trials.

A dear friend sent me an email that I will always cherish.  I had asked him to write a "testimonial" about my classes.  He didn't mention anything about what I'd taught in the classes or about my wisdom as a teacher.  He had learned something from me I hadn't expected.  Here is what he had to say...

She has a lovely, calm serenity about her that was quite captivating - and though she was a very busy mom was able to maintain this very busy profile. These qualities were inspiring to others. I didn't say anything about reaching our potential and beyond, but that is what Dr. Reeder picked up on.  I loved that he said I had a lovely, calm serenity about me. It was a beautiful compliment that I desperately needed to hear.

When you are feeling down and feel like no one is benefiting from your existence - just hold on.  I may have felt like I disappointed the leaders who invited me to teach the class (see previous post), but I taught with all the love that I could teach with.  I shared the knowledge and experience that I had discovered.  I had prayed to make a difference, I will never know, but perhaps in another way than I had intended to do so I DID make a difference because I chose to work through the pain and serve even if it wasn't comfortable doing so.

Stop the THOUGHT

Last week as I was driving home late at night from a speaking assignment, I felt like a complete failure as a "Mormon".  I had been asked to speak about a particular topic, and since I was a replacement for the speaker that had originally been scheduled, I had been given the topic and what the individual wanted me to say the actual day of the event.  I had actually had 10 days to think about the topic I had been given "Raising the Bar and Setting Sights on the Temple" and felt good about the examples I would be sharing.  However, after talking to the woman responsible for the event for the youth in her church, (the day of the event) I downloaded and printed the talks she suggested and tried to reformat my talk to suit better everything that was discussed on the phone.  The result?  Who knows?  Perhaps some day one of those girls will thank me, but for now I didn't really feel like what I said was what the individual wanted me to talk about.  I hadn't given specific things to do.  I'd tried to use examples they could remember and that would give them reasons to reach towards the Temple as a goal.  That would require setting their standards high NOW!

These past 6 months I have been struggling with fatigue.  There has been a cycle every couple of years and the good news is that as the health "waves" (per say) have hit, I've grown stronger and have gained more wisdom as it relates to health and wellness.

Several weeks ago I was talking to a friend and told her that I feel like a hypocrite as a health and wellness coach.  She was able to help me see that because of the various health issues I've had, and how I've struggled to overcome them, I have been given knowledge that will help others.  This "era" will also serve me as well.  I need to find peace and know that it is God's will.  He has something more to teach me.

I believe I've finally reached a point where I will be able to get to the true root of my health issues.  Something that deep down I've always believed I'd come around to learning - eventually.  What are the thoughts or beliefs that are causing me to be so sensitive to food? 

So, with the fatigue I've experienced these past several months - even while eating an extremely healthy diet, it hasn't been enough. My husband thinks he knows the answer for me. Supplements!  More supplements!

I'm SO very prideful when it comes to taking supplements.  I do NOT want to take them.  Dr. Weston A Price had showed the world the populations in the early 1900's.  All across the world, there were men, women and children who were able to be vibrantly healthy WITHOUT supplements.  All they needed to do was to eat food that was NOT changed, or processed in any way.  They had specific habits that other healthy cultures throught the world also followed.

My husband and I got into a very serious debate about this issue.  He wanted me to take some supplements.  I've seen them do miracles with others.  They were designed to stop inflammation.  I yelled that I HAD been teaching about the supplements.  Didn't a woman who was on the verge of death just recover because of the supplements I'd given to her and because of the oils?  I also yelled back that if I was going to share with the world how to be healthy, how on earth was I going to accomplish that by promoting a stupid supplement.  Shane tried to remain calm, but he is a personality type 3 (The element Hydrogen or "Warrior" type).  He is constantly pushing me - especially if he wants to get something done, or get a point across.  I am the personality type 4 (The element Carbon or "Visionary" type) I want to be calm and still at ALL times.  His pushing literally makes me sick at times.  I resort to yelling to help the point sink into his head.  I agreed that the supplements were helping others.  I was NOT however going to preach to take supplements to the WORLD!!!

After several days of simmering down - yes I was really angry by his lack of faith in my abilities to NOT take supplements and be well, I thought about the following things...

1) The relationship of yeast (candida) to food sensitivities.  I thought about the water in the city just east of us.  They had an outbreak where everyone who had drank the water had become extremely sick.  The sewage line had somehow contaminated the water line.  It is a fairly new city, and the lines are only 10 or 15 years old.

2) The fruits and vegetables in the stores are not like what my Mom planted in our garden when I was growing up. 

3) The time to fix healthy meals can be very time consuming. Keeping fresh produce requires frequent trips to the store to make sure the produce doesn't go to waste and we only buy what is needed for a couple of day's meals. Soups take time to make, food in its natural and unprocessed state take time to prepare.  I can quickly grab raw veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds etc. but my husband and children require more thought and preparation to the meals they eat so they do not crave the bad stuff that's out there.  We make a healthy version of pizza for my five year old that he really appreciates.  This requires more thought and preparation - especially if I make a rawfoods buckwheat bread that requires days to dehydrate.

Shane argued that absolutely NO ONE was going to be able eat the way I suggested.  I yelled back that I DO believe they will!  He then said that even WE do NOT have access to pure air, pure water, pure foods.  He said that EVERYONE needs to be taking a supplement.  An Omega Oil supplement, a Trace Mineral Supplement and a Whole Foods Supplement.  We just do NOT have access to everything that we need to be healthy.  He yelled back.  (Yes funny, I know! We are fighting about food supplements).

I thought about the primitive cultures that I teach about.  I could picture in my mind their vibrant healthy faces; the health and mental strength of their youth.  I want that for myself and my family - without using some supplement that we will find out later didn't have this or had too much of that and that it really did more harm than good (like the public is now realizing about most of the crappy supplements that are on the market today).  Whole Foods Supplements are much better than synthetic ones!  At least whole foods supplements are the powder form of the food God intended we eat - not some replica from rocks or dirt that happen to contain the same elements that food does.

A man made a funny comment about supplements one time.  He put up on the board what percentage of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, water etc. the human body is made up of.  He then went on to explain how he had come up with a supplement that would replace the human body.  He explained how the supplement had the exact same constituents.  We all laughed.   It IS true.  There is NO substitute for the REAL thing.  The organic, raw state is ALWAYS going to win the race over time!

So, over the days that followed our debate about supplements I had the following thoughts...

1) The primitive cultures did not cherish the muscle meat from the animals they consumed.  Oft times it would be discarded and they would eat the animal organs instead.  That is where the highest amount of vitamins and minerals were found - especially if they were consumed raw.

2) I thought about the organ meats that I have access to.  Nothing came to mind except for the liver that is sold at Real Foods Market.  I thought about the Asian Markets.  Ewe...a cold chill rushed through my body.  I had NO idea where that meat came from.   There was no way that I would buy that.  Standard Process products have flash dried organ powder in pill form, but I could only purchase their products by visiting a doctor.

3) The nutrient dense soil that the primitive cultures used to plant their produce and grains etc. was not like the soil that farmers use today.  Perhaps in most of the world yes, but not in the areas we get our produce from.  The soil is depleted and not given adequate time to replenish the minerals in the soil.  I remember my Mom changing where plants had been the previous year.  I remember the ash from the fire that would be placed on the garden throughout the winter; how we put the organic cow manure on the soil in the spring, and the compost from our leftover produce as well.  The soil was very well cared for.

The argument continued with my husband...

I understood that in order to help with digestion and the breakdown of protein, primitive cultures used fermented (aged) foods that were high in digestive enzymes. 

I thought about Crystal, about Laurinda...."they ate like I did!" I responded to Shane.  Look at them!  I thought about my friends from Real Foods Market and about their parents.  They were absolutely beautiful and it was because of how their parents ate before they were born and how they continued to eat their lives and throughout their children's lives!  My husband changed his debate a little bit.  "Ok, he said" "Perhaps 95% of the population do NOT eat like we do!"

I know the difference, I have traveled to several foreign countries and I too can see the difference in the people's physical and mental abilities of people that live close to industrialized cities with highly refined food verses the individuals who live in the country and eat food that they've produced and raised etc.

If I was going to "teach the world what I've learned", how could I do that by suggesting a supplement?

I do not have an answer to that question.  There is a movement of people that are helping to re-educate Americans and the world that food does effect the mental, emotional, physical and even spiritual aspects of our lives.  Dr. Mercola, Dr. Fuhrman, David Wolfe, Sally Fallon, Mary Wigmon, Donna Gates among many, many others.

In a small way I feel like a failure as a health coach.  Like the world of processed food has won.  I cannot convince people to avoid "the bad" and eat "the good".  Unfortunately, these days it is really difficult to distinguish the bad from the good.  Everything is wrapped in pretty package and sometimes the food is stamped organic when it is NOT organic.  What can people believe?

I personally have started to take an omega, vitamin and mineral supplement.  We will see if my energy will return.  I feel really good on an all raw foods diet, but don't have the time to juice my drink every morning and to make sure all of my kids and husband have the raw food meals and are satisfied with them as well.

We eat better than anyone I know.  My husband received the highest scores on his medical exam that the medical professional had seen in "a very long time".  My children have not been sick for years.  When the swine flu went around our neighborhood we were sick maybe one day, but recovered very quickly.

What we are doing IS making a difference and it is my prayer that I will be well completely one day.

To me, being well means that I will NO LONGER have ANY type of food sensitivity.  I will not eat processed food, but hope to someday enjoy sprouted grains sparingly without any reaction at all - nor do I expect a reaction or bad thing to happen over time (like a miscarriage, hypothyroidism, diabetes, dementia, schizophrenia, depression, or any other neurological or emotional disorder) from eating gluten.

People have asked that I write a book.  If a person has cancer still and they write a book about being well, I would not buy that book.  I still have a gluten-intolerance.  One day, only when I am COMPLETELY well, I will write that book.  I will be healthy mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally.  I will be so busy living and loving life that perhaps someone will need to write the book for me.  :)

As for "Stopping the Thought" mentioned in the title...

After driving home from the young women even last week, alone, and with the feelings of embarrassment for perhaps not delivering the EXACT message they were looking for, I wanted to drive directly to Good Earth to buy Charlotte's gluten-free sugar cookies.  They come in a batch of 12.  They are the closest thing to a "Grandma's brand Sugar Cookie" that I'd ever tasted.  The more I thought about it, the stronger the desire. (I am an emotional eater- that is my weakness).  It helps to recognize the weakness so I can work to control my emotions and to find emotional comfort in other ways.

As I was trying to combat the strong desire to buy the enormous cookies, echoing in my mind were the words of my young woman leaders from many, many years ago.  "Stop the Sin at the Thought".  I knew that if I continued to play with the thoughts of eating gluten that I would succumb to it.  I had enough will power to avoid the exit to the store that sold the gluten-free sugar cookies.  I stopped thinking about the cookies.  I replaced that thought with something else.  "Your mind can only think of one thing at a time".  (I could hear the wisdom of my mutual leader, who was also my dance teacher and friend).  "Replace the bad thought with something positive".

As I made my way towards home I thought about the gas station that sold "zingers" that wasn't too far from where I lived.  They also sold donuts.  I could go there.  I could gorge myself on them.  I remembered how one evening after a fight with my husband I had gone to the gas station, purchased several sinfully unhealthy donuts of various sizes and flavors, had driven to the church parking lot (how ironic) and had cried as I sinfully ate my "bad food".  I knew it would make me sick, but I was soothing my pain with the donuts. 

Memories of my past "sins" (per say) with food flooded my mind as I tried to decide whether or not to pass up the road to my house and head for the gas station.  I knew how good the food would taste for the moment, but knew I would pay for it, and my children would suffer for the decision as well - it would take days to fully recover - physically, mentally and emotionally.

Pushing the thoughts out of my mind, I avoided the gas station and turned into my neighborhood.  I made it home without succumbing to the temptation.  I headed straight to the pantry and munched on some "healthy alternatives" while I talked through my disappointments with myself to my husband.

I can only avoid that bad by making sure to keep the thoughts out of my mind.  When I eat the way that I teach you on this blog site, I don't dwell on what pizza or breads tasted like.  I don't think about the candies, the cakes, the pastas etc.  I just don't think about them.  It's like I have a veil over my eyes when I'm at the grocery store.  I make sure that I'm not hungry when I go to the store.  Even if that means stuffing my mouth with almonds before I enter the stores front door, I head into the store and go directly to the produce isle.  My "no, no, no, no's" (that I use to echo to the kids) has now turned into "sure, yes, ok, good choice".  My kids have been conditioned to only ask for the food that they know we want in our kitchen at home.  They also want a healthy Mom.

It helps and believe me "Stop the Thought".  This is true for any sin that a person is trying to overcome.  I'll leave you with a couple of quotes that I found on

I was mad at my oldest son one day and he asked me "Mom, have you had gluten?" NO! I snapped back. It's just that I've asked you 20 times to do your chores!

Yes it is true!

This was a silly video about a gluten-free diet helping autistic children.  One individual on YouTube asked if this was taken before or after the boys got on the gluten and dairy free diet.  I'm not sure, but obviously the parents noticed a big difference :) to help post this video.

Note: An individual with a gluten intolerance or allergy must eliminate dairy as well when they start a gluten-free diet.  The reason is because the tip of the villi in the intestines (damaged from the gluten) is the part of the villi that helps to digest the milk.  Once the villi has healed, an individual can introduce dairy back into their diet.

I would add to this that eating a diet that contains a lot of fruits and vegetables, and grains, raw nuts and seeds, healthy fats etc. that are NATURALLY Gluten-Free, helps the outcome to be even better!

My son doesn't have autism, nor has he tested positive for Celiac Disease but his teacher and I noticed a HUGE difference in his behavior when he chose to stop eating school lunch and he ate the food I prepared for him.  He could stay still, focus better, didn't complain of stomach pain after lunch and stopped being problematic in the classroom.  I had given my son the option of eating school lunch if he wanted to.  On his own, he was able to make the choice to avoid processed food because of the amazing difference in how he felt. 

I remember how incredibly happy I was the day my little 8 year old came to me in the kitchen and said "Mom, I don't want to eat school lunch any more".  He went on to explain that he wanted me to make him school lunch.

My son loves vegetables.  His favorite vegetable is cabbage. I would pack the food he wanted to eat in his lunch box.  Some of the choices even I raised my eyebrows at (like a big chunk of raw cabbage), but I let him make the choice as I tried to suggest protein, healthy carbohydrates, small amount of healthy fat, healthy drink options etc.

It made him feel bad when he was teased by kids when they saw him eating his "healthy food" in his lunch box.  There were many days when he'd return home and cry as he told me some of the mean things some of the older kids had said to him.  He is a smart, good looking kid.  He would then tell me about the kids his same age that would gather around him after the "big kids left" and would talk about how "cool" it was to eat healthy. 

It was a very rewarding experience when my son was running effortlessly and had the best endurance of anyone else in his school. The other kids were told by my son that it was "because of how healthy he ate".  The kids eventually stopped making fun of him (except for one older kid) and my little boy learned that over time the situation may not change much but he became stronger mentally and was able to stand up for how he ate. 

When he watched the movie "Food Inc" he made the choice on his own to also stop eating food at fast food restaurants.  I had made the suggestion to eat at Carl's Jr one time when we were all really hungry, were far away from home etc. (Which was really out of the norm for me). My son replied (in a tone of voice that portrayed his disappointment at the suggestion) saying "Mom! We do NOT eat FAST FOOD!"

He knew our families policy and he wanted me to stick to our beliefs!

Kids are wonderful aren't they? So smart!  Teach them correct principles and let them guide their lives.

Note for teachers:  It would do your students a lot of good if you do NOT reward them with candy.  I'll have to come up with a healthy inexpensive, parent and school approved, alternative to candy as a reward.  I'll post that information on this site.

I don't want to make anyone feel bad, but even my husband makes mistakes at times. It takes serious study to know what is good or bad if you make someone something that is processed. Even many products labeled as "Gluten-Free" are NOT really gluten-free. If someone you know and love, who has Celiac Disease, declines your kind offer to make a meal, please do not be offended. When people have persisted at making me a meal I've been touched at their kindness. Visiting Teachers of mine from Highland made me a gluten-free meal after the birth of my baby. They were so sweet that they brought all of the labels off of the containers that they had used in the meal preparation. With those labels I was able to confidently eat what they made.

Note: A "Visiting Teacher" is someone that receives a "calling" to watch over a particular sister in the church. Most women in the "Relief Society Organization" have a Visiting Teacher Companion that they work with and they are assigned 2-3 women to care for by visiting them once a month and sharing a spiritual message with them. If there are any needs, they inform the Relief Society President who reports the need to the Bishop of the ward if more help is needed than what the sisters can provide for. My dear 86 year old Grandmother has 5 different sisters that she looks after. One of them has MS. One of the biggest disappointments in my life was when my Relief Society president told me that she "relieved me of my visiting teaching calling" - this was due to the health issues I had experienced nearly 5 years ago that resembled MS". I'm so grateful for the wonderful women who have supported me through my various health trials and for the naturally gluten-free meals.  (See my post about about Naturally Gluten-Free Foods.  It will help you if you want to prepare a gluten-free meal for a friend)

3) The problem with caramel color is it may or may not contain gluten depending on how it is manufactured. In the USA caramel color must conform with the FDA standard of identity from 21CFR CH.1. This statute says: the color additive caramel is the dark-brown liquid or solid material resulting from the carefully controlled heat treatment of the following food-grade carbohydrates: Dextrose (corn sugar), invert sugar, lactose (milk sugar), malt syrup (usually from barley malt), molasses (from cane), starch hydrolysates and fractions thereof (can include wheat), sucrose (cane or beet). Also, acids, alkalis and salts are listed as additives which may be employed to assist the caramelization process.
4) Can utilize a gluten-containing grain or by-product in the manufacturing process, or as an ingredient.
5) Most celiac organizations in the USA and Canada do not believe that wheat starch is safe for celiacs. In Europe, however, Codex Alimentarius Quality wheat starch is considered acceptable in the celiac diet by most doctors and celiac organizations. This is a higher quality of wheat starch than is generally available in the USA or Canada.
6) According to 21 C.F.R. S 101,22(a)(3): [t]he terns natural flavor or natural flavoring means the essential oil, oleoresin, essence or extractive, protein hydrolysate, distillate, or any product of roasting, heating or enzymolysis, which contains the flavoring constituents derived from a spice, fruit or fruit juice, vegetable or vegetable juice, edible yeast, herb, bark, bud, root, leaf or similar plant material, meat, seafood, poultry, eggs, dairy products, or fermentation products thereof. Whose significant function in food is flavoring rather than nutritional.
7) Dextrin is an incompletely hydrolyzed starch. It is prepared by dry heating corn, waxy maize, waxy milo, potato, arrowroot, WHEAT, rice, tapioca, or sago starches, or by dry heating the starches after: (1) Treatment with safe and suitable alkalis, acids, or pH control agents and (2) drying the acid or alkali treated starch. (1) Therefore, unless you know the source, you must avoid dextrin.

Enjo cleaning products demonstration - Naturally Savvy

When I was in New Zealand sharing "My Story" with the wonderful Maori and the other natives from New Zealand, I had the opportunity to work with a very well known and beloved Dr in the area. The Doctor gathered together many health professionals, Naturopaths, Veterinarians, Aromatherapists, etc. so that I could teach them about the power of Essential Oils coupled with "My Story".

It was very intimidating speaking in front of these professionals. I briefly explained "my story" to them because they were already all aware of Dr. Weston A Price's book "Nutrition and Physical Degeneration". Nearly every one of them, however, did not consume meat or dairy products. We could relate to the world of raw and fermented foods, but I briefly discussed how important the raw dairy products were in my recovery. I mainly focused on the oils. It was well received and the biggest compliment of the night was when I realized every person there was studiously taking notes. I loved it!

After the class, I went back to the Dr's home. His wife had prepared a lovely meal for my husband and family.

Before going over to New Zealand, a friend of mine made sure to inform me that Dr Reeder's wife was one of the top sales persons at a company called ENJO. She explained that I would probably be told about the company and the products. The friend then laughed as she shared how every friend she had introduced to this family had actually purchased the ENJO product.

After eating the wonderful meal that she had made for us, we sat down to talk. My husband, who had stayed at their home with the kids (while I was teaching) had received the full ENJO class. He was excited about what he had learned and he informed me we were getting the entire house kit. I smiled as I watched my technically savvy husband bounce around in his chair with excitement as he explained the wonderful chemical free, only using cold water and the ENJO fibres solution to cleaning. He was definitely a believer in ENJO. (The cost was much less than I had paid for my sargeant steam).

Jo came out with our newly purchased supplies and laid the bags on the floor beside me. She sat down in front of me and began to explain how the fabrics worked and how she used them in her house.

I was absorbing everything Jo was telling me, but as she talked I had my own dialog going on in my mind. I was already converted. I had never seen a house so clean. It had an incredible vibration about it. The air, the appliances, the floor, the windows etc. It was incredible. She explained how they were going to replace their wood floor because of how bad it looked, but after using the ENJO products it brought the life and shine back to the surface. The floor looked brand new!

The thing that caught my attention most was the face and skin health of Jo. I knew that she was a Grandmother herself but she looked incredibly young. I wondered if it was because she had gluten sensitivities and ate a dairy free, sugar free, yeast free, processed food free diet. Her next words stopped my own dialog...

"I haven't used soap on my body for over two years," she said. What? No soap? She then explained how the bath and body fibres worked just like the cleaning fibres. Because of how finite the fibres are, they are able to go deep into any surface and pull out all of the dirt, and bacteria etc. I was REALLY excited about this prospect - especially if it gave me the incredibly young looking skin that she had. The Dr. also has a very tight, clean surface to his face. He too looks incredibly healthy. He only looks like a distinguished grandfather because of his grey hair.

Jo had sold all of her face fibre cloths earlier in the week and so she promised to mail them to me when her shipment arrived. When we arrived home from our travels to New Zealand and Australia, I anxiously awaited for the ENJO face fibres to arrive.

When I received the package from Jo I eagerly ripped open the bag, quickly read the sweat note from her and raced upstairs to try it out for myself.

The results were incredible!!!

I could take off even my mascara and eye makeup WITHOUT soap! It was mind blowing. I couldn't believe it. I thought about when I would go camping or when we traveled in the motor-home how this would be a PERFECT product to have with me at all times.

After cleaning my face with the ENJO fibres I couldn't believe how clean and tight my skin felt. I could feel the tingling from the increased blood circulation to the area where I'd used the fibres. I remembered what Jo had told me, it will remove all of the dead skin and she told me that her aging spots on her face had also began to diminish when she started using ENJO and then they eventually went completely away. I thought about the Dr..That must be why his skin had a perfect, even coloring - why it looked so healthy with hardly any wrinkles at all! I could hardly wait to share it with others. I wonder if it will take away my freckles? :)

"Farmed Salmon Exposed" - Intro/Excerpt

It took traveling to Australia and New Zealand for me to realize what was happening in the fishing industry. Did you know tuna is becoming an endangered species? Listen to this video about how the Chilean fishing industry has been destroyed because of the Norwegian salmon farms. I have many friends in Chile. For those who believe eating farm raised fish is saving the wild caught population...think again. This video talks about how these Norwegian companies compete with the local fisheries.  They compete to catch the wild caught fish, grind it up (add soy, corn, sterhoids to it etc.) and feed it to the farm raised fish.

So I don't understand the mentality.  Catch wild fish, grind it up, feed it to farm raised fish...then sell it to the public.

Farmed Fish - NOT a Healthy Alternative

Before knowing what I now know (after years of research), I use to buy farmed fish.  I had heard about the dangers of water contamination and so I sought out the packages of fish that said "farm raised".  In my mind I pictured nice clear water, fish being raised naturally in nice clean water.  The truth is that the fish are crowded, are given steroids to grow quickly, some are genetically modified to be what people have called "Franken Fish".  The antibiotics used to control the disease in these disgusting environments have floated into the waters affecting fish in their natural habitats.  Please read this very informative article from Dr. Mercola.  When you buy fish choose wild caught options.  Although expensive, I am buying my fish from Vital Choice as Dr. Mercola recommends.  To save money you can setup a wholesale account and can buy the fish with the skin still on.  You will save a lot of money that way.

Fish farms are killing off wild salmon. Norwegian policies are making farmed seafood unsustainable and unhealthy. Open cage salmon farms, used to raise what is perhaps the most popular type of farmed fish, pose numerous problems for the environment and public health.

Many environmental experts have warned about the unsustainability of fish farms for close to a decade now, but nothing has been done to improve the system. As usual, government agencies and environmental organizations around the world turned a blind eye to what was predicted to become an absolute disaster, and now the ramifications can be seen across the globe.
Fish Farms – One of the Most Unsustainable Food Production Strategies Ever Implemented

Farmed fish is now so common, if you bought fish in the supermarket recently or ordered one in a restaurant, chances are it was farm raised. (About the only places you can find wild-caught fish these days are specialty fine-dining seafood restaurants.)

These oceanic feedlots, consisting of acres of net-covered pens tethered offshore were once considered a wonderful solution to over-fishing, but the reality is far from it.

As mentioned in the video above, it can take up to 5 kilos of wild fish and Antarctic krill to produce just one kilo of farmed salmon!

Rather than solving the problem of over-fishing, fish farms are literally competing with human consumption for what little wild fish there are left...

Open cage salmon farms are also decimating natural salmon stocks, and destroy the livelihoods of fisheries across the world.
Fish Farms Breed Disease that Decimate Wild Fish around the World

Conditions at fish farms are like conditions at factory farms everywhere: overcrowded, sickly, infected animals are fed whatever it takes to grow them as large as possible in as short a time as possible. But these techniques create disease, and the techniques employed cause otherwise near-non-existent disease to spread past the pens into the wild.

The "answer" is to add antibiotics to the fish feed – the identical "safety" measure employed by cattle- and poultry farms, for example. As a result of the excessive use of antibiotics, resistant strains of disease have emerged that now infect both wild and domesticated fish.

Sea lice, a type of crustacean that is easily incubated by captive fish on farms, have also become a significant problem.

To deal with it, chemicals that have not been tested for safety on other species are now being routinely used in salmon farms – even though no one actually knows what these untested chemicals will do to other crustaceans, such as shrimp, crab and lobster. After all, these pens are in open water and there's no way to control the spread of these chemicals.

The inevitable result of these modern fish farming practices is an evil circle of disease, antibiotic use, followed by the emergence of antibiotic resistant strains.

According to the video above, diseases created by salmon farms have now destroyed the Chilean fishing industry, and affect wild salmon in Canada, as well as sea trout in Ireland and Scotland.

The wild salmon fisheries in the US have also gone bust.

Two years ago, US federal authorities declared that the West Coast ocean salmon had reached a tipping point, and that the fisheries in California, Washington and Oregon had failed due to a sudden collapse of salmon. As a result, both commercial and recreational fishing for salmon was banned for the first time in 160 years.
Farmed Fish Also Pose Additional Human Health Hazards

In addition to being an unsustainable practice and an economic disaster, farm raised fish can also spell disaster for your health.

It's important to understand that ALL farm-raised fish – not just salmon -- are fed a concoction of vitamins, antibiotics, and depending on the fish, synthetic pigments, to make up for the lack of natural flesh coloration due to the altered diet. Without it, the flesh of caged salmon, for example, would be an unappetizing, pale gray.

The fish are also fed pesticides, along with compounds such as toxic copper sulfate, which is frequently used to keep nets free of algae.

Not only do you ingest these drugs and chemicals when you eat the fish, but these toxins also build up in sea-floor sediments. In this way, industrial fish farming raises many of the same environmental concerns about chemicals and pollutants that are associated with feedlot cattle and factory chicken farms.

In addition, fish waste and uneaten feed further litter the sea floor beneath these farms, generating bacteria that consume oxygen vital to shellfish and other bottom-dwelling sea creatures.

Studies have also consistently found levels of PCBs, dioxins, toxaphene and dieldrin, as well as mercury, to be higher in farm-raised fish than wild fish.

This fact alone would be cause to reconsider consuming farmed fish!

Wild caught fish have already reached such toxic levels, it's impossible to recommend eating them with a clear conscience anymore. For example, according to a recent U.S. Geological Survey study, mercury contamination was detected in EVERY fish sampled in nearly 300 streams across the United States!

More than a quarter of these fish contained mercury at levels exceeding the EPA criterion for the protection of human health. Another study on fish from US lakes and reservoirs found that more than half contained excessive levels of mercury -- so much so they were deemed unsafe for children and pregnant women to eat.

So, when you consider the fact that factory farmed fish typically are even MORE toxic than wild caught fish and also contain an assortment of antibiotics and pesticides, avoiding them becomes a no-brainer – at least if you're concerned about your health.
Could Moving Fish Farms Onto Land Solve the Problem?

Some, such as Orri Vigfusson, chairman of the North Atlantic Salmon Fund, believe that the answer to the current problems is to relocate the fish farms from the open ocean onto land, where it can be better controlled.

But even though that might help protect the oceans to some degree, it still not solve the problem of exacerbating over-fishing to create fish feed. It also wouldn't solve the problem of the excessive use of antibiotics and other chemicals, which are an integral part of any factory farm setup, whether it's in the ocean or on land.

Besides that, where would the toxic waste get hauled off to? The environmental devastation would still be significant.
What are Your Options?

Sadly, contamination of our oceans and waterways is so great that I don't advise eating ANY fish, whether farm-raised or wild-caught, unless you can verify its purity.

What options do you have, then, to get the health benefits of the omega-3 fats in fish, without exposing yourself to pollutants and excessive amounts of antibiotics, and contributing to the decline of the fish population and destruction of the environment?

These days I recommend you get your omega-3 fat from an alternative source like krill oil. Not only are krill (small, shrimp-like creatures) a superior source of omega-3, but they are one of the most easily renewable food resources available, making them an excellent nutritional source from an environmental perspective.

Though I know many of you enjoy fish for the flavor and the health benefits, if you can't confirm that it's from a clean, sustainable source, I believe the risks from eating it -- both to your health and the environment -- vastly outweigh the benefits. The only source of wild salmon I can personally recommend is from Vital Choice.

My mind is whirling with all of the attacks.  Disappointment, criticism, anger, apathy, grief - I can see it in your expressions.  There are so many of you.

It would be better if I just get off at the next stop.  I'm not capable of being on the same team.  I lack the drive to finish.  I lack the strength to even stand.  When I am still, I can feel my body trembling.

The struggle inside, no one knows.

The mental battle that is going on, it cannot be seen.

The pain in my heart from years of disappointment.  The heaviness is unnoticed to the passerby.

Shutting out the world numbs the pain for a moment, but the pain and reminders from the past bury the pain deeper still.

Such a failure as a human being.  Such a failure in so many ways I cannot begin to make a list...

Crawling at times to get my family to church.  We are late.  I see the looks of judgement.  My husband kisses me on my temple and whispers to me "I'm proud of you!  You are here". 

As I sit in the chair I can feel my body trembling.  I'm struggling to hold my body upright in the chair.  The weight of my 5 month old is too heavy for me to carry.  I pass her off to my husband to hold. 

The tears continue to fall until the end of the class.

My husband walks me to the next class.  He stays with me in the hallway and helps me to stand as we wait to enter the room.

A good friend gave me a hug and the tears fell freely.

It would have been easier to stay home.  It would have been easier to not have to work through the pain.  It would have been less noticed, my pain, if I could have just stayed home.

Just like having a good workout physically, I returned home from church exhausted mentally and emotionally.

It was a good workout.  Those spiritual muscles burned.

Good job.  My husband and God, and a dear friend were the only ones who knew the struggle.

My war is a silent one.

It feels like I am swimming upstream in a strong current.  I may only be staying in place as I struggle against the current, but at least I am not being taken downstream and into the sea.

I will continue to swim - despite the pain.

I choose to live.

I choose to forgive.

I choose to laugh.

And I choose to love.



Thank Goodness!

When my husband is out of town for work, the days and nights, he is away, pass by very slowly at times.  The hustle and bustle of taking care of kids, cleaning the house, preparing meals etc. seem to make the time pass by quickly during the day, but as the evening approaches, so does a sense of melancholy.

Some of the things that help...

1- Positive, uplifting music
2- Grateful thoughts.  I cannot tell you how much the song "Count Your Many Blessings" helps me as I try to focus on what I am grateful for vs. the hardships that I may be experiencing.

My step-dad called me the other day and mentioned that sometimes it's easier to be thankful for what "I don't have" vs. "what I have".  I'll explain...

I'm grateful that my husband isn't lazy...
I'm grateful that my husband isn't abusive...
I'm grateful that my husband isn't unfaithful...

I struggle with the fact my husband is a business owner and has the weight of the company, the employees, the vendors, the customer's etc. on his shoulders day in and day out.  It has been this way ever since we were married.  It was my husband's first employee (one of my very best friends from college) that actually introduced the two of us.  With being married to a CEO, comes the reality that sometimes employees and customers come first before family.  Perhaps your spouse's schooling or church callings is taking away from the time that he or she can spend time with you.

3- Find a hobby that you enjoy

One spring/summer was especially difficult for me as my husband was gone nearly every single week working out of town on large commercial projects that required his expertise and supervision.  On occasion we would be able to join him, but for the most part we had to stay behind.  I felt like I was going border-line crazy one day and prayed for help.  The answer... I enrolled myself in guitar lessons.  The nights became less lonely when I focused on practicing the guitar and singing.

4- Never bring junk food home with you. 

My husband isn't here right now and evening is upon us.  Without recognizing how sad and lonely I was, I begin to "emotionally eat".  I wasn't hungry, but here are some things I was grabbing for. 

a. I ate 2 grapefruit
b. I had a spouted grained muffin with raw butter and raw New Zealand Honey on it.  (Bad for a Celiac!)
c. 1 tsp of Molasses
d. A fig
e. 1/2 tsp of Agave
f. A couple bites of leftover thanksgiving gravy and potatoes
g. A couple swigs of organic milk. (We prefer raw milk, but Shane had purchased this when he went to the health foods store to buy the ingredients for the Thanksgiving meal)
After I drank the milk, I took a minute to step away from my pantry and observed logically what was happening.  I was definitely emotionally eating. Thank Goodness that I didn't have junk food around me.  If there had been chips, Twinkies, candies, cakes, pizza, breads etc. around, I would have been eating those things.

My son asked me the other day what my favorite junk food was.  I thought for a minute and was able to tell him that something called a "Zinger" was probably my favorite junk food.  I had remembered back to my college days (as a dance major).  I'd cut calories to lose weight and then when I couldn't take it any more I'd head for the store to eat some zinger's.  I'd eat an entire package of them.  When I explained to my son what zingers were I explained they were basically a pink, coconut covered twinkie.  My son then politely asked "what is a twinkie?" 

I had to laugh at this cute little question.  We laughed about how there were many junk food items that my kids had never tasted.  They know how much I've struggled with my health issues because of how I had eaten in High School and in College.  They know that in order to be everything God intended them to be - with all of the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual beauty that they were destined to have, requires eating and living in the way our Father in Heaven (God) intended.

A little advice about shopping...

The best time to go shopping is when you are NOT hungry.  If you can make a shopping list before going to the store, that helps as well.  Decide what meals you are going to make for the week.  Make a list of the ingredients needed and then stick to that list.

When I go to the store with the kids I catch myself giving the following advice to my oldest daughter a lot.  The advice is "don't look at the bad".  I then tell her to "look for the healthy options".  She has learned to look for where the fruit trays are.  When they are on clearance I love buying the fruit trays for the kids.  It's a wonderful healthy "treat".  My son likes to choose a favorite fruit to eat.  I let them help me bag the produce. 

By planning your meals out in advance, you won't have the food go to waste.  If you are new to cooking with fruits and vegetables, take it a step at a time.  Try a new recipe a couple times a week.

I didn't like all of the raw food recipes that required a ton of preparation and a lot of flavors mixed together.  For me, the simpler the better!  I love plain cucumbers with apple cider vinegar, sea salt and cracked pepper.  I like plain tomatoes with cracked pepper and sea salt.  I love steamed carrots and green beans with raw butter.  I love freshly made salsa, and I love the combination of cabbage with lime juice, sea salt and avocado.

Find what works for you.  One step at a time.

Get out those happy CD's that you love.  Turn the music up and dance!  I remember when I was little (still small enough that my mother could pick me up and dance with me) she would turn the records on, spin me around and dance.  I can still picture my younger siblings from below grasping onto my mother's legs as they looked up at her laughing trying to be a part of what was happening. 

Life is difficult at times, but thank the dear Lord for good food, good music, and good friends. 

Turn the music up, pack the fridge with healthy emotional eating choices :), tell yourself how beautiful you are, breathe in and out gratitude, and let the crap you are currently dealing with come out as waste.

I love YOU.  As I've been writing this, I've felt a great swelling in my chest as my heart reaches out to the one who is reading this.
